Lightweight materials of Ukraine: potential, barriers and opportunities for integration into EU markets
Composite and other lightweight materials are becoming increasingly important for the defense industry, reconstruction, energy, transportation, and high-tech manufacturing. At the same time, Ukraine already has strong scientific and engineering expertise and some exporters, but it remains largely dependent on imports of materials and technologies.
The Ukrainian Cluster Alliance has prepared an analytical report titled “Lightweight (Composite) Materials in Ukraine” as part of the Lightweight-EU (Interreg Europe) project. The study covers the current state and prospects of the Ukrainian market, key value chains, technological and regulatory barriers, as well as opportunities for Ukrainian companies and research organizations to integrate into European networks.
In this report, you will find:
- an analysis of the global, European, and Ukrainian composites markets;
- promising areas for UAVs, construction and reconstruction, the energy sector, and the high-tech sector;
- key gaps in Ukraine’s value chain;
- a comparison of Ukraine with leading European models;
- practical recommendations and an action plan for the sector’s development and greater integration with the EU.
